Thank you for supporting or participating in the 2019 BLOCK KIDS Building Program on 11/2/209.  Approximately 100 students from 1st through 6th Grade participated in the program.  Second grader, William Lex, won the overall prize with his design of a construction site with a crane, building materials, and construction workers.  Will's project was submitted to Regional's and has a chance to move to the National competition.

The kids enjoyed hands-on activities from the Sheet Metal, Carpenters, Steamfitters, and Iron Workers unions.  Th National Fire Sprinkler Association and Sprinkler Fitters Local demonstrated how fire spreads in two identical buildings with and without sprinklers.  The Philadelphia Fire Department was on-site to help extinguish the fire.  Everyone had a great time.  We are looking forward to next year's program.
